Pup-sicle Season has Arrived!

During the hot summer months, you can help your pooch cool down with these nutritious treats, all easy to make and 100 percent doggy approved. The recipes below are healthy, delicious and can be made in no time at all (two shakes of a tail in dog speak). Not only will your pup love them but they’re also a useful way to get rid of those over-ripe bananas or left-over chicken.

Banana-Peanut Butter Pup-sicles

      Ingredients:
  • 32 oz. vanilla yogurt
  • 1 medium ripe mashed banana
  • 2 Tbs. peanut butter
  • 2 Tbs honey 

    Just put all the ingredients into a blender, then blend until smooth.  Pour the mixture into an ice-cube tray, freeze and voila! Delicious nutritious  treats!

Chicken Pup-sicles

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breasts, cooked and chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

Directions

  1. Divide your cooked and chopped chicken among the disposable cups, about 1/4 cup of chicken in each.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the water and dried parsley.
  3. Divide the water mixture among the disposable cups, about 1/2 cup in each.
  4. Freeze for 8 hours to allow them to fully set.
  5. Run warm water around the mold to remove the popsicle.

Makes 4 chicken pops.

Fruit and Yoghurt Pup-sicles

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
  • ¼ cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 1 banana, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 of a peeled cucumber

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.
  3. Serve to your pet.
